Rules for the game

**********Before a match starts**********

Players use colored twenty sided dice to keep track of animal health, attack, and defense. Animal health is represented by green dice, attack represented by red dice, and defense represented by blue dice.

Player health starts at fifty and can be kept track of by using white dice or any color spinning counter.

The field of play is called the player's environment.

The left column of the environment is for one habitat card at the left top and resource card stack at the left bottom.

The right column is for used effect cards and destroyed resources at the top right, Incapacitated and killed animals in the right middle, and the players deck at the right bottom.

The three middle long rows are for animals on the top row, animals in the middle row,and effect cards on the bottom row.

In this game players do not shuffle their decks. Players can align their decks in any order they want for whatever strategy they wish to carry out.

A player may choose not to use card sleeves if they choose. If a player chooses to use sleeves, they may choose one color or as many different combinations of colors as they want.

Decks must be at least fifty cards.

A maximum of three copies of a card are allowed in a deck.

*********** Starting a duel************
Each player rolls one twenty sided dice to determine who goes first. The highest roll wins. Reroll if players roll equal values until someone wins.

Each player draws five cards at the start of the duel.

The player who goes first draws only one card at the start of their first turn. Every turn after, they draw two cards at the start of each turn.

The player who goes second draws two cards to make the match/duel more even. They draw two cards at the start of each of their turns afterwards.

Neither player may attack with their animals on their first turns of the duel.

****************Play phase***************

A players play phase starts after they draw their two cards at the start of their turn or one card if they won the dice roll to get the first turn in the duel.

A player can play as many cards as they want face down but can only play those cards face up if they pay their resource cost, which is located between the name and picture of the card.

Each player can only normal play one resource card per turn and it must be during their play phase.

Once you play a second resource card, you place the new resource card on top of your already played resource(s) in your environment and increase a twenty sided white dice by one as you go up in resource count throughout the duel.

The twenty sided white dice is placed below your resource stack, as well as a twenty sided black dice.

When playing cards face up, you raise the black dice in value according to the resource cost of the cards you play to represent how many resourcs have been used. At the beginning of each of the players' turns remove the black dice to represent the resources refreshing and being able to use them again.

You can only have one habitat card active at a time and it is placed in the designated zone to the left of the animal, food, and effect rows.
*************Combat phase**************

This is where combat between players' animals takes place.

Animals must be played by each player before their combat phase to be able to attack during their combat phase.

A player may decide to attack or not attack with any of their animals, with one animal, or all of them, but animals may only attack once per turn.

Once an animal has attacked, they are turned sideways to indicate they have attacked. At the start of each players turn, they turn their animals vertical and they may attack again in the players' upcoming combat phase.

When two animals battle, each animal will take damage equal to the difference between their defense (blue) number and the opposing animals attack (red) number plus one. For example, if an attacking animal has four attack and the defending animal has three defense, the defending animal will take two damage to their health.
During a battle between two animals, even if an animal has a higher defense (blue) number than an opposing animals attack (red) number, the animal with the higher defense number will take one damage to their health (green)  each time they battle another animal.
When an animal's health (green number) reaches zero they are placed face up in the incapacitated pile.
When an animal is incapacitated, the owner of the animal takes one health damage for animals costing 1-4 resources, 2 health damage for animals costing 5-8, and 3 health damage for animals cost 9 or more.

Animals can only attack a player's health directly if the target player has no animals In their environment.

After a player has decided to attack or not attack with each of their animals, they may end their turn.
*****Win, lose, and draw conditions*****

A player wins the game if their opponent(s) player health reaches zero.

A player can also win the game if their opponent runs out of cards in their deck, has no animals left in their environment, and also no animals left to play from their hand.

A game can result in a draw if both players run out of cards in their decks and have no more animals to attack with, while also having the same life total.
